Dedication

I dedicate this book to my children.  They and their children will be living in a rapidly changing world, one that I hope will be more humane than the world I speculate for the future.  If that is to be the case, it will happen because people begin to realize the need to live in sympathy with the natural world that ultimately sustains all of life. 

I will not, cannot, dedicate to my children by name. There is no way to name them all together and at once, there would be a first and a last with unintended implications: they have no such order in my heart and mind.  And in another way they represent the zenith of how I feel about all of the young of my species – it would finally be a long list indeed.
